Film specialists invited from Cuba

Screen Cuba is delighted to announce the two Cuban film specialists from Havana invited to participate in the Festival. Both guests will be available for Q&A sessions and to meet audiences more informally in the cinema’s Garden Bar following screenings.

Tania Delgado Fernández is the new Director of the prestigious International Festival of the New Latin America Cinema (FINCL) held in Havana each December, now in its 44th edition.  Tania has been involved in the cinema industry for 20 years having worked at the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC), for many years. As the first woman to hold the esteemed position of director, Tania stresses the Festival is “one of the most outstanding events … not only in Latin America, but for all Ibero-American cinema in general,” one “that is a benchmark for cinema in the region”.

Gladys González Martinez has recently taken up the position of Vice President of the Cuban Film Institute (ICAIC). Gladys has a phD in Human Rights, Equality, Education and Social Intervention and is a video producer and director of programmes for television. Gladys’s recent promotion is part of ICAIC’s commitment “promoting young people in fundamental areas of the institution… for the development of Cuban cinema”.
