Screen Cuba is delighted to introduce the design duo behind our striking festival poster. They are currently hard at work creating our promo video for the festival.

“I discovered the wonderful world of design at just 17 years old,” says Dayron Giro, a young graphic designer, illustrator, and creative director. After teaching himself web design alongside a friend, he entered university in 2022 and graduated last year with a degree in Visual Communication Design.

Dayron has exhibited his brilliant work at numerous venues in Cuba, including notable galleries at Casa de las Américas and the UNEAC Salón de Mayo. CARTEL A 1RA VISTA, a chronological exhibition of his work, was presented at the Fábrica de Arte Cubano. His innovation and creativity have also been showcased in group exhibitions beyond the island, in Mexico, the United States, Ecuador, Italy, Spain, Brazil.

Professionally, Drayon has served as Creative Director at Aimas Estudio since June 2023 and as a designer for Alma Mater magazine since February 2024. His practice is particularly focused on cultural design projects, including film festivals, art exhibitions, and other cultural events.

Roberto Pérez Curbelo (b. 1999) ‘Potto’ pictured left

Roberto, known as Potto “since I was little,” grew up in Cerro, Havana, immersed in a creative environment shaped by his cousin, a graphic designer. His love of comics and visual storytelling stem from these early years.

Potto studied Visual Communication Design at the Superior Institute of Design of the University of Havana (ISDi). Cuban poster art is a key source of inspiration for his work, particularly its humour, stylistic diversity, and “solutions to social, political, and cultural themes”. His practice spans graphic design for visual arts exhibitions, book covers, serial publications, video spots, and film and theatre posters. In addition to his professional work, he teaches design at ISDi.

Potto has created innovative promotional materials for major cultural events, including the Festival of New Latin American Cinema, the campaign celebrating the 295th anniversary of the University of Havana, and the Havana International Book Fair—a collaborative project that also served as his final graduation exercise. Potto’s design was chosen for our 2025 Festival.
